How To TOTALLY Remove Conduit From Firefox???

I had installed 2 toolbars (Freecorder, Blueshirt) on 2 different PCs. As you all know I'm sure, it's modified the WebSearch function in Firefox.

I have now totally uninstalled the toolbars in Firefox from add-ons/extensions but Google Search pages are STILL conduit pages. I want conduit removed from my browser and PCs. I find it very intrusive that Conduit would make this so hard to remove! How Do I do it?

I've searched this forum for 'remove conduit' but have not found specific instructions. Please, someone help? Point me to instructions or????

Thank You,

Ken

Hi kenh !

I suggest you a simple way :
1. remove your FireFox
2. install again your FireFox from Free source

None of that works. I'll try to describe the situation better in hope that I'll get  a fix.

This occurs when I highlight a work/phrase on a web page, in Firefox, then Right Click and select "Search Web Search for "xxxx" from the context menu. When a Google page comes up it is the 'branded' Conduit google page. THAT is my problem, I want Conduit gone and the default UNbranded Google page back.

In about:config I have changed:

browser.search.defaulturl    back to the plain google default
keyword:url    back to default

BUT I still get the conduit/google search result page.

I'm guessing that conduit made more Firefox config changes????????

Could it be in here?
browser.search.param.Google.1.custom      value =  chrome://branding/content/searchconfig.properties

It's obvious that conduit has modified, re-directed, whatever....the default Google Search.

Please, how do I change that back? Or, where else can I get help with this?

Thanks,

Ken

Ok here's the fix:

Upper right in your Google search bar (Firefox), click the little arrow dropdown.  Click on Manage Search Engines.  Remove Websearch from the list and click Google to make it default.

Voila!!

Anyone else have this problem? In Firefox type about:config

find : keyword.URL
Change to something like:
http://www.google.com/search?ie=UTF-8&oe=UTF-8&sourceid=navclient&gfns=1&q=

Done Deal  ::)

Hi Ken,

Not sure where in about:config to look, so you may need to reinstall your toolbar to give this a try.

On your Conduit toolbar, click the logo menu (the down arrow just to the right of the logo), click on Toolbar Options.  In Toolbar Options, click the Additional Settings tab.  Put a check mark in the check box labeled "Enable switch back to default Search Engine.", and click OK.

Hope that helps.
